2025-01-14arm64: versal: RO multi_boot register in non JTAG bootmodeMichal Simek
The main reason for this change is that upstream QEMU has no multiboot register implemented that's why access to it fails which ends up in CI failure for our target. That's why in JTAG bootmode returns 0 which is correct behaviour because multiboot register is not used in this mode and value should be ignored and as a side effect it is also fixing CI/Qemu issue. 2024-12-18fdt: Swap the signature for board_fdt_blob_setup()Simon Glass
This returns a devicetree and updates a parameter with an error code. Swap it, since this fits better with the way U-Boot normally works. It also (more easily) allows leaving the existing pointer unchanged. No yaks were harmed in this change, but there is a very small code-size reduction. As per bootmenu support added default boot options to CC on AMD CCs and default to SOM on others. However, if no secondary boot device is enabled in the design,it should be the default boot option for SOM when combined with AMD CCs because it only contains SOM peripherals. Fix the issue introduced by commit 067e0294806e ("board: xilinx: Remove conditional check for Microblaze"). The scriptaddr should be physical location not really offset from start of DDR. When U-Boot is not found boot.scr script address in device tree, then it is assigned based on script address and ram base address for Microblaze and i.e exceeding DDR memory. 2024-10-14Merge patch series "Integrate MbedTLS v3.6 LTS with U-Boot"Tom Rini
Raymond Mao <[email protected]> says: Integrate MbedTLS v3.6 LTS (currently v3.6.0) with U-Boot. Motivations: ------------ 1. MbedTLS is well maintained with LTS versions. 2. LWIP is integrated with MbedTLS and easily to enable HTTPS. 3. MbedTLS recently switched license back to GPLv2. Prerequisite: ------------- This patch series requires mbedtls git repo to be added as a subtree to the main U-Boot repo via: $ git subtree add --prefix lib/mbedtls/external/mbedtls \ https://github.com/Mbed-TLS/mbedtls.git \ v3.6.0 --squash Moreover, due to the Windows-style files from mbedtls git repo, we need to convert the CRLF endings to LF and do a commit manually: $ git add --renormalize . $ git commit New Kconfig options: -------------------- `MBEDTLS_LIB` is for MbedTLS general switch. `MBEDTLS_LIB_CRYPTO` is for replacing original digest and crypto libs with MbedTLS. `MBEDTLS_LIB_CRYPTO_ALT` is for using original U-Boot crypto libs as MbedTLS crypto alternatives. `MBEDTLS_LIB_X509` is for replacing original X509, PKCS7, MSCode, ASN1, and Pubkey parser with MbedTLS. By default `MBEDTLS_LIB_CRYPTO_ALT` and `MBEDTLS_LIB_X509` are selected when `MBEDTLS_LIB` is enabled. `LEGACY_CRYPTO` is introduced as a main switch for legacy crypto library. `LEGACY_CRYPTO_BASIC` is for the basic crypto functionalities and `LEGACY_CRYPTO_CERT` is for the certificate related functionalities. For each of the algorithm, a pair of `<alg>_LEGACY` and `<alg>_MBEDTLS` Kconfig options are introduced. Meanwhile, `SPL_` Kconfig options are introduced. In this patch set, MBEDTLS_LIB, MBEDTLS_LIB_CRYPTO and MBEDTLS_LIB_X509 are by default enabled in qemu_arm64_defconfig and sandbox_defconfig for testing purpose. Patches for external MbedTLS project: ------------------------------------- Since U-Boot uses Microsoft Authentication Code to verify PE/COFFs executables which is not supported by MbedTLS at the moment, addtional patches for MbedTLS are created to adapt with the EFI loader: 1. Decoding of Microsoft Authentication Code. 2. Decoding of PKCS#9 Authenticate Attributes. 3. Extending MbedTLS PKCS#7 lib to support multiple signer's certificates. 4. MbedTLS native test suites for PKCS#7 signer's info. All above 4 patches (tagged with `mbedtls/external`) are submitted to MbedTLS project and being reviewed, eventually they should be part of MbedTLS LTS release. But before that, please merge them into U-Boot, otherwise the building will be broken when MBEDTLS_LIB_X509 is enabled. See below PR link for the reference: https://github.com/Mbed-TLS/mbedtls/pull/9001 Miscellaneous: -------------- Optimized MbedTLS library size by tailoring the config file and disabling all unnecessary features for EFI loader. From v2, original libs (rsa, asn1_decoder, rsa_helper, md5, sha1, sha256, sha512) are completely replaced when MbedTLS is enabled. From v3, the size-growth is slightly reduced by refactoring Hash functions. From v6, smaller implementations for SHA256 and SHA512 are enabled and target size reduce significantly. Target(QEMU arm64) size-growth when enabling MbedTLS: v1: 6.03% v2: 4.66% v3 - v5: 4.55% v6: 2.90% Tests done: ----------- EFI Secure Boot test (EFI variables loading and verifying, EFI signed image verifying and booting) via U-Boot console. EFI Secure Boot and Capsule sandbox test passed. Known issues: ------------- None. Link: https://lore.kernel.org/u-boot/[email protected]/

2024-10-11Merge patch series "Tidy up use of 'SPL' and CONFIG_SPL_BUILD"Tom Rini
Simon Glass <[email protected]> says: When the SPL build-phase was first created it was designed to solve a particular problem (the need to init SDRAM so that U-Boot proper could be loaded). It has since expanded to become an important part of U-Boot, with three phases now present: TPL, VPL and SPL Due to this history, the term 'SPL' is used to mean both a particular phase (the one before U-Boot proper) and all the non-proper phases. This has become confusing. For a similar reason CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is set to 'y' for all 'SPL' phases, not just SPL. So code which can only be compiled for actual SPL, for example, must use something like this: #if defined(CONFIG_SPL_BUILD) && !defined(CONFIG_TPL_BUILD) In Makefiles we have similar issues. SPL_ has been used as a variable which expands to either SPL_ or nothing, to chose between options like CONFIG_BLK and CONFIG_SPL_BLK. When TPL appeared, a new SPL_TPL variable was created which expanded to 'SPL_', 'TPL_' or nothing. Later it was updated to support 'VPL_' as well. This series starts a change in terminology and usage to resolve the above issues: - The word 'xPL' is used instead of 'SPL' to mean a non-proper build - A new CONFIG_XPL_BUILD define indicates that the current build is an 'xPL' build - The existing CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is changed to mean SPL; it is not now defined for TPL and VPL phases - The existing SPL_ Makefile variable is renamed to SPL_ - The existing SPL_TPL Makefile variable is renamed to PHASE_ It should be noted that xpl_phase() can generally be used instead of the above CONFIGs without a code-space or run-time penalty. This series does not attempt to convert all of U-Boot to use this new terminology but it makes a start. In particular, renaming spl.h and common/spl seems like a bridge too far at this point. The series is fully bisectable. It has also been checked to ensure there are no code-size changes on any commit.

2024-06-28Merge patch series "automatically add /chosen/kaslr-seed and deduplicate code"Tom Rini
Tim Harvey <[email protected]> says: This series will automatically add /chosen/kaslr-seed to the dt if DM_RNG is enabled during the boot process. If RANDOMIZE_BASE is enabled in the Linux kernel instructing it to randomize the virtual address at which the kernel image is loaded, it expects entropy to be provided by the bootloader by populating /chosen/kaslr-seed with a 64-bit value from source of entropy at boot. If we have DM_RNG enabled populate this value automatically when fdt_chosen is called. We skip this if ARMV8_SEC_FIRMWARE_SUPPORT is enabled as its implementation uses a different source of entropy that is not yet implemented as DM_RNG. We also skip this if MEASURED_BOOT is enabled as in that case any modifications to the dt will cause measured boot to fail (although there are many other places the dt is altered). As this fdt node is added elsewhere create a library function and use it to deduplicate code. We will provide a parameter to overwrite the node if present. For our automatic injection, we will use the first rng device and not overwrite if already present with a non-zero value (which may have been populated by an earlier boot stage). This way if a board specific ft_board_setup() function wants to customize this behavior it can call fdt_kaslrseed with a rng device index of its choosing and set overwrite true. Note that the kalsrseed command (CMD_KASLRSEED) is likely pointless now but left in place in case boot scripts exist that rely on this command existing and returning success. An informational message is printed to alert users of this command that it is likely no longer needed. Note that the Kernel's EFI STUB only relies on EFI_RNG_PROTOCOL for randomization and completely ignores the kaslr-seed for its own randomness needs (i.e the randomization of the physical placement of the kernel). It gets weeded out from the DTB that gets handed over via efi_install_fdt() as it would also mess up the measured boot DTB TPM measurements as well.

In addition, this patch correctly configures mio76 and mio77 as gpio pins which are used as reset gpio pins on the kd240 starter kit. 2024-06-17arm64: zynqmp: Setup multiboot register to 0Michal Simek
On Kria when board starts from Image A or Image B partition multiboot register is already setup to that location. When reset command is called board is issuing soft reset which start SW at already used location (offset of multiboot * 32k). But board should continue to run from multiboot offset 0 (start of QSPI) and call early bootloader every reboot that's why clear multiboot register to 0 by default to go that route all the time. 2024-06-17arm64: versal2: Add support for AMD Versal Gen 2Michal Simek
Add support for AMD Versal Gen 2. SoC is based on Cortex-a78ae 4 cluster/2 cpu core each. A lot of IPs are shared with previous families. There are couple of new IP blocks where the most interesting from user point of view is UFS. 2024-06-17xilinx: versal: Do not prioritize boot device if driver is not enabledVenkatesh Yadav Abbarapu
SOC can boot out of the device which is not accessible from APU and running this is detected as a warning, as the device is not accessible. For example getting below warning when the boot mode is OSPI and OSPI is not enabled in device tree. Invalid bus 0 (err=-19) Failed to initialize SPI flash at 0:0 (error -19) Ignoring the prioritization of the boot device which driver is not enabled and continue with the default boot_targets. Recommendation is to use custom boot_targets via environment file as is done for example for Kria via zynqmp_kria.env file. 2024-06-17xilinx: zynqmp: Allow multiboot environment write even in saved environmentKory Maincent
Once the environment was saved, the current multiboot image information became unreachable. When dealing with firmware updates, this information is necessary alongside the saved environment to know the booted image. Move the multiboot environment set operation before the saved environment check to ensure this information is always available. 2024-06-17board: zynqmp: Move zynqmp commands from board/ to arch/Charlie Johnston
The zynqmp cmds.c is currently tied to the board but the commands contained within are more closely tied to the architecture. To allow usage of those commands when the architecture is ZynqMP but the board is not, this change moves the cmds into the arch/ tree. The source file is renamed to zynqmp.c to reflect the command name as well. 2024-05-19Revert "Merge patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet""Tom Rini
When bringing in the series 'arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"' I failed to notice that b4 noticed it was based on next and so took that as the base commit and merged that part of next to master. This reverts commit c8ffd1356d42223cbb8c86280a083cc3c93e6426, reversing changes made to 2ee6f3a5f7550de3599faef9704e166e5dcace35.
