2025-02-06usb: gadget: g_dnl: Fix NULLPTR dereference when serial# is unsetMichael Ferolito
The current behaviour of this function will dereference a null pointer if the serial# environment variable is unset. This was discovered on a board where U-Boot did not have access to the first 256MB of ram, resulting in a board crash. In the event that U-Boot has full access to memory, it will still read from address 0, which is probably not optimal. 2024-11-26usb: ci_udc: don't use "advance" feature when setting addressIon Agorria
In the older USB controllers like for example in ChipIdea controller used by the Tegra 2 the "USBADRA: Device Address Advance" bitflag does not exist, so the new device address set during SET_ADDRESS can't be deferred by hardware, which causes the host to not recognize the device and give an error. Instead store it until ep completes to apply the change into the hw register as Linux kernel does. This should fix regression on old and and be compatible with newer controllers. 2024-10-16net: introduce alternative implementation as net/lwip/Jerome Forissier
Prepare the introduction of the lwIP (lightweight IP) TCP/IP stack by adding a new net/lwip/ directory and the NET_LWIP symbol. Network support is either NO_NET, NET (legacy stack) or NET_LWIP. Subsequent commits will introduce the lwIP code, re-work the NETDEVICE integration and port some of the NET commands and features to lwIP. SPL_NET cannot be enabled when NET_LWIP=y. SPL_NET pulls some symbols that are part of NET (such as arp_init(), arp_timeout_check(), arp_receive(), net_arp_wait_packet_ip()). lwIP support in SPL may be added later. Similarly, DFU_TFTP and FASTBOOT are not compatible with NET_LWIP because of dependencies on net_loop(), tftp_timeout_ms, tftp_timeout_count_max and other NET things. Let's add a dependency on !NET_LWIP for now. SANDBOX can select NET_LWIP but doing so will currently disable the eth dm tests as well as the wget tests which have strong dependencies on the NET code. Other adjustments to Kconfig files are made to fix "unmet direct dependencies detected" for USB_FUNCTION_SDP and CMD_FASTBOOT when the default networking stack is set to NET_LWIP ("default NET_LWIP" instead of "default NET" in Kconfig). The networking stack is now a choice between NO_NET, NET and NET_LWIP. Therefore '# CONFIG_NET is not set' should be 'CONFIG_NO_NET=y'. Adjust the defconfigs accordingly. Simon Glass <[email protected]> says: When the SPL build-phase was first created it was designed to solve a particular problem (the need to init SDRAM so that U-Boot proper could be loaded). It has since expanded to become an important part of U-Boot, with three phases now present: TPL, VPL and SPL Due to this history, the term 'SPL' is used to mean both a particular phase (the one before U-Boot proper) and all the non-proper phases. This has become confusing. For a similar reason CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is set to 'y' for all 'SPL' phases, not just SPL. So code which can only be compiled for actual SPL, for example, must use something like this: #if defined(CONFIG_SPL_BUILD) && !defined(CONFIG_TPL_BUILD) In Makefiles we have similar issues. SPL_ has been used as a variable which expands to either SPL_ or nothing, to chose between options like CONFIG_BLK and CONFIG_SPL_BLK. When TPL appeared, a new SPL_TPL variable was created which expanded to 'SPL_', 'TPL_' or nothing. Later it was updated to support 'VPL_' as well. This series starts a change in terminology and usage to resolve the above issues: - The word 'xPL' is used instead of 'SPL' to mean a non-proper build - A new CONFIG_XPL_BUILD define indicates that the current build is an 'xPL' build - The existing CONFIG_SPL_BUILD is changed to mean SPL; it is not now defined for TPL and VPL phases - The existing SPL_ Makefile variable is renamed to SPL_ - The existing SPL_TPL Makefile variable is renamed to PHASE_ It should be noted that xpl_phase() can generally be used instead of the above CONFIGs without a code-space or run-time penalty. This series does not attempt to convert all of U-Boot to use this new terminology but it makes a start. In particular, renaming spl.h and common/spl seems like a bridge too far at this point. The series is fully bisectable. It has also been checked to ensure there are no code-size changes on any commit.

Currently both USB host uclass and USB gadget uclass are using the same name "usb" which break uclass functions like uclass_get_by_name(). Rename the uclass to "usb_gadget" to fix, also makes bind/unbind by class index (or sequence) working. This breaks the capacity of using "usb" as DT alias sequence numbering which needs a fix afterwards. 2024-07-05usb: gadget: Add full ep_matches() check past .match_ep() callbackMarek Vasut
If .match_ep() callback returns non-NULL endpoint, immediately check its usability and if the returned endpoint is usable, stop search and return the endpoint. Otherwise, continue with best effort search for usable endpoint. Currently the code would attempt the best effort search in any case, which may find another unexpected endpoint. It is likely that the intention of the original code was to stop the search early. 2024-07-05usb: gadget: Drop all gadget_is_*() functionsMarek Vasut
The only actually used gadget_is_*() functions are the one for DWC3 used in epautoconf.c usb_ep_autoconfig() and one for MUSB in ether.c. The DWC3 one should be fixed in some separate patch. Inline the gadget_is_dwc3() and stop using ifdefs in favor of IS_ENABLED() macro. The rest of gadget_is_*() calls in usb_ep_autoconfig() can never be anything but 0, since those gadgets are not supported in U-Boot, so remove all that unused code. Remove gadget_chips.h as well. The bcdDevice field is defined as |Device release number in binary-coded decimal in the USB 2.0 specification. We use this field to distinguish the UDCs from each other. In theory this could be used on the host side to apply certain quirks if the "special" UDC in combination with this gadget is used. This hasn't been done as far as I am aware. In practice it would be better to fix the UDC driver before shipping since a later release might not need this quirk anymore. This patch removes the newly unused function. Linux stopped using this functionality in 2012, remove it from U-Boot as well. Support for dynamic sector sizes changes the types used in some divisions, resulting in the compiler attempting to use libgcc helpers (__aeabi_ldivmod). At some point when trying to use USB gadgets, two situations may arise and lead to a failure. Either the UDC (USB Device Controller) is not available at all (not described or not probed) or the UDC is already in use. For instance, as the USB Ethernet gadget remains bound to the UDC, the use of any other USB gadget (fastboot, dfu, etc) *after* will always fail with the "couldn't find an available UDC" error. Let's give a more helpful message by making a difference between the two cases. Let's also hint people who would get this error and grep it into the sources a better explanation of what's wrong with their workflow. This is sent e.g. by the util-linux eject(1) command and indicates to the device that it is supposed to spin down the media and enter low power state. 2023-11-21usb: ci: Fix gadget reinitSimon Holesch
The ChipIdea device controller wasn't properly cleaned up when disabled. So enabling it again left it in a broken state. The problem occurred for example when the host unbinds the driver and binds it again. During the first setup, when the out request is queued, the endpoint is primed (`epprime`). If the endpoint is then disabled, it stayed primed with the initial buffer. So after the endpoint is re-enabled, the device controller and device driver were out of sync: the new out request was in the driver queue head, yet not submitted, but the "complete" function was still called, since the endpoint was primed with the old buffer. With the fastboot function this error led to the (rather confusing) error message "buffer overflow". Fixed by clearing the primed buffers with the `epflush` (`ENDPTFLUSH`) register.
