2025-11-04imx: kontron-sl-mx8mm: Add support for reading HW UIDsFrieder Schrempf
The factory provides a CPU UID in the OTPs and the SoM module and the carrier board might provide additional UIDs in the GP registers of the OTPs. Load these values in the following order and create a serial number string: * Board UID (GP2) * SoM UID (GP1) * CPU UID (UNIQUE_ID) The string is stored in the "serial#" env variable and exported to Linux. Further this prints the used UID to the console which looks like this ID: 0042152331 (Board) or: ID: 0030124840 (SoM) or: ID: 4696668CD9516886 (CPU) Signed-off-by: Frieder Schrempf <[email protected]>

2025-07-24treewide: Remove empty board_init() function from all boardsSam Protsenko
Commit 86acdce2ba88 ("common: add config for board_init() call") introduced CONFIG_BOARD_INIT option. This option can be disabled for the boards where board_init() function is not needed. Remove empty board_init() calls for all boards where it's possible, and disable CONFIG_BOARD_INIT in all related defconfigs. This cleanup was made semi-automatically using these scripts: [1]. No functional change, but the binary size for the modified boards is reduced a bit. 2024-12-15board: sl28: fix network on variant 3Michael Walle
Network is broken on variant 3 boards since commit 61ff13283c3b ("board: sl28: move to OF_UPSTREAM") because it was removing the variant 3 handling. That is because at that time the var3 device tree was not upstream. FWIW variant 3 is actually the same as the base variant, but I've missed that the -u-boot.dtsi is not inlcuded in this case which will set the ethernet alias. Now that the var3 device tree is upstream, just re-add it to the SPL handling again. 2024-09-10treewide: drop redundant "type string" for SYS_SOC and friendsRasmus Villemoes
The Kconfig symbols SYS_ARCH, SYS_CPU, SYS_SOC, SYS_VENDOR and SYS_BOARD are defined in arch/Kconfig as having type string, and most board files simply amend those definition with suitable default "foo" or default "foo" if BAR stanzas. But some also include a redundant repetition of the type. Homogenize the code base by removing those lines. Generated by find arch/*/ board -name Kconfig | xargs perl -i -g -pe 's/(config SYS_(ARCH|CPU|SOC|VENDOR|BOARD)\n)\s*string\n/\1/gs' with the trailing slash in arch/*/ ensuring that arch/Kconfig itself is not found. This does not change boards which add a prompt string, e.g. string "Board name" because I think those change the semantics of the symbol into being user-settable. 2024-02-27Kconfig: Centralize prompting for SYS_CONFIG_NAMETom Rini
Generally speaking, we do not prompt for this value and define it in the board specific Kconfig file. There are some valid use cases however today where we do prompt for this value, so instead of having this be done in a number of locations, do this at the top-level location only. This removes the question from a number of other locations and makes it consistent that when we do set the value directly, we always do it the same way. We don't need to specify the type, it's always string. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
2023-08-09treewide: rework linker symbol declarations in sections headerShiji Yang
1. Convert all linker symbols to char[] type so that we can get the corresponding address by calling array name 'var' or its address '&var'. In this way, we can avoid some potential issues[1]. 2. Remove unused symbol '_TEXT_BASE'. It has been abandoned and has not been referenced by any source code. 3. Move '__data_end' to the arch x86's own sections header as it's only used by x86 arch. 4. Remove some duplicate declared linker symbols. Now we use the standard header file to declare them. [1] This patch fixes the boot failure on MIPS target.
