2026-03-22board: lg: star: make panel fix optionalSvyatoslav Ryhel
Currently, U-Boot fails with an FDT patching error if the LG Optimus 2X device tree lacks a panel node. Since the panel is optional hardware, patching should be optional as well. Fix this by allowing bootflow to continue if the panel node is missing. Signed-off-by: Svyatoslav Ryhel <[email protected]>
2025-07-08include/spl_gpio.h: Audit include listTom Rini
This file does not need <asm/gpio.h> so remove it. This file does however need <linux/types.h> so add that in. This also shows that arch/arm/mach-rockchip/rk3399/rk3399.c and board/lg/star/star.c were indirectly getting <asm/gpio.h> from here, so add <asm/gpio.h> to them. 2025-05-08ARM: tegra: set default SYS_CONFIG_NAME from SoC KconfigSvyatoslav Ryhel
Since most boards now use the same generic device config header, move its setup to SoC Kconfig instead of setting SYS_CONFIG_NAME in each board's Kconfig. Signed-off-by: Svyatoslav Ryhel <[email protected]>

Most device headers contain SoC specific part and common Tegra post part. 2024-08-06omap3: sniper: Convert to device-tree control and DM I2CPaul Kocialkowski
This converts the sniper board (LG P970) to device-tree control and DM I2C, both for SPL and U-Boot. Note that we lose the call to board_mmc_power_init to enable power for MMC2. This is now expected to take place through proper regulators, which are not yet available with the twl4030 driver. The call to twl4030_power_mmc_init is moved to spl_board_init for now. 2021-09-07arm: Disable ATAGs supportTom Rini
With the exceptions of ds109, ds414, icnova-a20-swac, nokia_rx51 and stemmy, disable ATAG support. A large number of platforms had enabled support but never supported a kernel so old as to require it. Further, some platforms are old enough to support both, but are well supported by devicetree booting, and have been for a number of years. This is because some of the ATAGs related functions have been re-used to provide the same kind of information, but for devicetree or just generally to inform the user. When needed still, rename these functions to get_board_revision() instead, to avoid conflicts. In other cases, these functions were simply unused, so drop them. 2021-02-02common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common headerSimon Glass
Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. 2021-01-05dm: Rename U_BOOT_DEVICE() to U_BOOT_DRVINFO()Simon Glass
The current macro is a misnomer since it does not declare a device directly. Instead, it declares driver_info record which U-Boot uses at runtime to create a device. The distinction seems somewhat minor most of the time, but is becomes quite confusing when we actually want to declare a device, with of-platdata. We are left trying to distinguish between a device which isn't actually device, and a device that is (perhaps an 'instance'?) It seems better to rename this macro to describe what it actually is. The macros is not widely used, since boards should use devicetree to declare devices. Rename it to U_BOOT_DRVINFO(), which indicates clearly that this is declaring a new driver_info record, not a device. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>

2020-12-13dm: treewide: Rename 'platdata' variables to just 'plat'Simon Glass
We use 'priv' for private data but often use 'platdata' for platform data. We can't really use 'pdata' since that is ambiguous (it could mean private or platform data). Rename some of the latter variables to end with 'plat' for consistency. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>

2020-07-17treewide: convert bd_t to struct bd_info by coccinelleMasahiro Yamada
The Linux coding style guide (Documentation/process/coding-style.rst) clearly says: It's a **mistake** to use typedef for structures and pointers. Besides, using typedef for structures is annoying when you try to make headers self-contained. Let's say you have the following function declaration in a header: void foo(bd_t *bd); This is not self-contained since bd_t is not defined. To tell the compiler what 'bd_t' is, you need to include <asm/u-boot.h> #include <asm/u-boot.h> void foo(bd_t *bd); Then, the include direcective pulls in more bloat needlessly. If you use 'struct bd_info' instead, it is enough to put a forward declaration as follows: struct bd_info; void foo(struct bd_info *bd); Right, typedef'ing bd_t is a mistake. I used coccinelle to generate this commit. The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows: <smpl> @@ typedef bd_t; @@ -bd_t +struct bd_info </smpl> Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <[email protected]>

2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2017-03-19ti: boot: Register the MMC controllers in SPL in the same way as in u-bootJean-Jacques Hiblot
To keep a consistent MMC device mapping in SPL and in u-boot, let's register the MMC controllers the same way in u-boot and in the SPL. In terms of boot time, it doesn't hurt to register more controllers than needed because the MMC device is initialized only prior being accessed for the first time. Having the same device mapping in SPL and u-boot allows us to use the environment in SPL whatever the MMC boot device. Signed-off-by: Jean-Jacques Hiblot <[email protected]>
2017-01-20serial, ns16550: bugfix: ns16550 fifo not enabledHeiko Schocher
commit: 65f83802b7a5b "serial: 16550: Add getfcr accessor" breaks u-boot commandline working with long commands sending to the board. Since the above patch, you have to setup the fcr register. For board/archs which enable OF_PLATDATA, the new field fcr in struct ns16550_platdata is not filled with a default value ... This leads in not setting up the uarts fifo, which ends in problems, when you send long commands to u-boots commandline. Detected this issue with automated tbot tests on am335x based shc board. The error does not popup, if you type commands. You need to copy&paste a long command to u-boots commandshell (or send a long command with tbot) Possible boards/plattforms with problems: ./arch/arm/cpu/arm926ejs/lpc32xx/devices.c ./arch/arm/mach-tegra/board.c ./board/overo/overo.c ./board/quipos/cairo/cairo.c ./board/logicpd/omap3som/omap3logic.c ./board/logicpd/zoom1/zoom1.c ./board/timll/devkit8000/devkit8000.c ./board/lg/sniper/sniper.c ./board/ti/beagle/beagle.c ./drivers/serial/serial_rockchip.c Signed-off-by: Heiko Schocher <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Ladislav Michl <[email protected]> Tested-by: Adam Ford <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
