9 dayssata: Rework the CMD_SATA and SATA symbolsTom Rini
Today we typically enable CMD_SATA in order to have the SATA functionality itself enabled, despite there being a clean split between the two symbols. This in turn leads to potential configuration problems. Split things so that SATA continues to be separate and not CMD_SATA instead depends, functionally, on AHCI being enabled. To do all of this: - Have X86 select AHCI directly rather than "default y" it later. - Make CMD_SATA be a default y option, given the split of platforms that enabled SATA and did, or did not, enable CMD_SATA. - Change "imply CMD_SATA" to "imply SATA" - Correct TARGET_VEXPRESS64_JUNO because you cannot select SATA_SIL without PCI (and in turn, SATA is needed for SATA_SIL). - Update a number of defconfigs to have no functional change. 2025-09-08configs: Fix crash on coreboot x86Patrick Rudolph
Booting u-boot as payload with coreboot's main branch is currently broken since commit [1] on x86 as U-boot assumes the active GDT matches what U-Boot would have installed in start16.S. Make no assumptions and always load the GDT when building as coreboot payload to make sure the segment registers are actually matching the GDT. Fixes #GP seen when booting U-Boot as coreboot payload. 1: https://review.coreboot.org/c/coreboot/+/87255 Signed-off-by: Patrick Rudolph <[email protected]> Link: https://review.coreboot.org/c/coreboot/+/87255 Reviewed-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2024-04-10Merge patch series "Resolve issues with booting distros on x86"Tom Rini
Simon Glass <[email protected]> says: This little series reprises the EFI-video fix, fixes a USB problem and enables a boot script for coreboot. It also moves to truetype fonts for coreboot and qemu-x86, since the menus look much better and there are no strong size constraints. With these changes it is possible to boot a Linux distro automatically with U-Boot on x86, including when U-Boot is the second-stage bootloader.

Drop IDE and add NVME since this is more common now. Add ms so it is easier to search for tables in memory. Expand the command-line and print buffers so that we can deal with the very long ChromeOS command lines. (typically 700 characters). Enable BOOTSTD_FULL to get the full set up standard-boot options. 2023-07-14disable NFS support by defaultPeter Robinson
While NFS is widely used in data centres, and private networks it's quite a nuanced usecase for device firmware. A lot of devices already disable it. Various network protocols should really be opt in, not opt out, because they add extra size and are potential attack vectors from a security PoV. In the NFS case it doesn't really make sense for a lot of devices like tables, SBCs etc. It's also something we don't really want for SystemReady-IR due to security concerns. 2019-11-20env: Finish migration of common ENV optionsTom Rini
- In ARMv8 NXP Layerscape platforms we also need to make use of CONFIG_SYS_RELOC_GD_ENV_ADDR now, do so. - On ENV_IS_IN_REMOTE, CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET is never used, drop the define to 0. - Add Kconfig entry for ENV_ADDR. - Make ENV_ADDR / ENV_OFFSET depend on the env locations that use it. - Add ENV_xxx_REDUND options that depend on their primary option and SYS_REDUNDAND_ENVIRONMENT - On a number of PowerPC platforms, use SPL_ENV_ADDR not CONFIG_ENV_ADDR for the pre-main-U-Boot environment location. - On ENV_IS_IN_SPI_FLASH, check not for CONFIG_ENV_ADDR being set but rather it being non-zero, as it will now be zero by default. - Rework the env_offset absolute in env/embedded.o to not use CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET as it was the only use of ENV_OFFSET within ENV_IS_IN_FLASH. - Migrate all platforms.
