2025-07-04mx6sabresd: Reduce U-Boot proper size to fix boot regressionFabio Estevam
The mx6sabresd U-Boot proper binary size has grown beyond the CONFIG_BOARD_SIZE_LIMIT. Reduce its size by removing the CONFIG_MULTI_DTB_FIT, BOOTM_PLAN9 and BOOTM_RTEMS options. According to doc/README.multi-dtb-fit: "Usually the DTB is selected by the SPL and passed down to U-Boot. But some platforms don't use the SPL. In this case MULTI_DTB_FIT can used to provide U-Boot with a choice of DTBs" mx6sabresd uses SPL, so MULTI_DTB_FIT can be safely dropped as the DTB selection in SPL is done by board_fit_config_name_match(). Rename the variable and add ENV_ prefix, so that all configuration options which are related to environment would have an CONFIG_ENV_ prefix. No functional change. Commit 68dcbdd594d4 ("ARM: imx: Add weak default reset_cpu()") caused the 'reset' command in U-Boot to not cause a board reset. 2024-02-08mx6sabresd: Fix U-Boot corruption after saving the environmentFabio Estevam
U-Boot binary has grown in such a way that it goes beyond the reserved area for the environment variables. Running "saveenv" and rebooting the board causes U-Boot to hang because of this overlap. Fix this problem by selecting CONFIG_LTO so that the U-Boot proper size can be reduced. Also, to prevent this same problem to happen in the future, use CONFIG_BOARD_SIZE_LIMIT, which can detect the overlap in build-time. This converts the following to Kconfig: CONFIG_SYS_MONITOR_LEN To do this, we set a default of 0 for everyone because there are a number of cases where we define CONFIG_SYS_MONITOR_LEN but the only impact is that we set TOTAL_MALLOC_LEN to be CONFIG_SYS_MALLOC_LEN + CONFIG_ENV_SIZE, so we must continue to allow all boards to set this value. Update the SPL code to use 200 KB as the default raw U-Boot size directly, if we don't have a real CONFIG_SYS_MONITOR_LEN value. Next, as you cannot have SYS_I2C_LEGACY and DM_I2C at the same time, introduce CONFIG_SPL_SYS_I2C_LEGACY so that we can enable the legacy option only in SPL.
