2026-04-03sata: Rework the CMD_SATA and SATA symbolsTom Rini
Today we typically enable CMD_SATA in order to have the SATA functionality itself enabled, despite there being a clean split between the two symbols. This in turn leads to potential configuration problems. Split things so that SATA continues to be separate and not CMD_SATA instead depends, functionally, on AHCI being enabled. To do all of this: - Have X86 select AHCI directly rather than "default y" it later. - Make CMD_SATA be a default y option, given the split of platforms that enabled SATA and did, or did not, enable CMD_SATA. - Change "imply CMD_SATA" to "imply SATA" - Correct TARGET_VEXPRESS64_JUNO because you cannot select SATA_SIL without PCI (and in turn, SATA is needed for SATA_SIL). - Update a number of defconfigs to have no functional change. 2024-04-04arm: dts: kirkwood: Enable upstream DT on Kirkwood boardsTony Dinh
Enable OF_UPSTREAM to use upstream DT and add marvell/ prefix to the DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE for Kirkwood boards. And so we can directly build DTBs from dts/upstream/src/arm/marvell, and including *-u-boot.dtsi files from arch/arm/dts/ directory. Background: The following 2 commands and filters were used in the analysis to determine which upstream DTS and DTSI files can be used as they are, or need to have modified/created *-u-boot.dtsi for u-boot specific implementation, and which board should be opt-out from OF_UPSTREAM. The Zyxel NSA325 board has a USB 3.0 controller attached to the PCIe bus. And the Zyxel NSA310S has an extensive overhaul in bindings and styles in upstream DTS version. For Kirkwood boards, it is necessary to have early malloc in DRAM area when Driver Model for Serial is enabled. - Make all users of CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR reference SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR - Introduce HAS_CUSTOM_SYS_INIT_SP_ADDR to allow for setting the stack pointer directly, otherwise we use the common calculation. - On some platforms that were using the standard calculation but did not set CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_SIZE / CONFIG_SYS_INIT_RAM_ADDR, set them. - On a small number of platforms that were not subtracting GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE do so now via the standard calculation. - CONFIG_SYS_INIT_SP_OFFSET is now widely unused, so remove it from most board config header files. The Globalscale Technologies Sheevaplug board has the network chip Marvell 88E1116R. Use uclass mvgbe and the compatible driver M88E1310 driver to bring up Ethernet. - Remove CONFIG_RESET_PHY_R symbol from all board files - Use uclass mvgbe to bring up the network. And remove ad-hoc code. - Enable CONFIG_PHY_MARVELL to properly configure the network. - Miscellaneous changes: Move constants to .c file and remove header file board/Marvell/sheevaplug/sheevaplug.h, use BIT macro, and add/cleanup comments. - In ARMv8 NXP Layerscape platforms we also need to make use of CONFIG_SYS_RELOC_GD_ENV_ADDR now, do so. - On ENV_IS_IN_REMOTE, CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET is never used, drop the define to 0. - Add Kconfig entry for ENV_ADDR. - Make ENV_ADDR / ENV_OFFSET depend on the env locations that use it. - Add ENV_xxx_REDUND options that depend on their primary option and SYS_REDUNDAND_ENVIRONMENT - On a number of PowerPC platforms, use SPL_ENV_ADDR not CONFIG_ENV_ADDR for the pre-main-U-Boot environment location. - On ENV_IS_IN_SPI_FLASH, check not for CONFIG_ENV_ADDR being set but rather it being non-zero, as it will now be zero by default. - Rework the env_offset absolute in env/embedded.o to not use CONFIG_ENV_OFFSET as it was the only use of ENV_OFFSET within ENV_IS_IN_FLASH. - Migrate all platforms.
