2025-09-24android: boot: fix wrong end of header in v3/v4 parsingGuillaume Ranquet
The android boot header is page aligned but the current code made the assumption that the header was always smaller than the current header format. When the page_size is defined as 2048, as this is the case with the cuttlefish target, the current code sets the end of the header in the middle of it as the v3 and v4 headers are respectively 2112 and 2128 bytes long. Fix that by aligning to page_size Fixes: 1115027d2f75 ("android: boot: update android_image_get_data to support v3, v4") Signed-off-by: Guillaume Ranquet <[email protected]>

2023-04-04android: boot: support bootconfigSafae Ouajih
Support Bootconfig feature. - The bootconfig feature replaces the androidboot.* kernel cmdline options. This was adapted from downstream [1] commit : 7af0a0506d4d ("cuttlefish: support bootconfig parameters"). 2023-04-04android: boot: update android_image_get_data to support v3, v4Safae Ouajih
Since boot image header version 3 and 4 introduced vendor boot image, use the following functions to fill the generic android structure : andr_image_data: - android_boot_image_v3_v4_parse_hdr() - android_vendor_boot_image_v3_v4_parse_hdr() Update android_image_get_data() to support v3 and v4 Signed-off-by: Safae Ouajih <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Mattijs Korpershoek <[email protected]> Tested-by: Mattijs Korpershoek <[email protected]>
2023-04-04android: boot: kcomp: support andr_image_dataSafae Ouajih
andr_image_data structure is used as a global representation of boot image header structure. Introduce this new structure to support all boot header versions : v0,v1.v2.v3.v4 and to support v3 and v4 while maitaining support for v0,v1,v2. The need of using andr_image_data comes from the change of header structure in both version 3 and 4. Rework android_image_get_kcomp() to support this new struct. 2023-04-04android: boot: add boot image header v3 and v4 structuresSafae Ouajih
Add support for v3/v4 boot image format by adding the following structures: - andr_boot_img_hdr_v3 : describes boot image header - andr_vnd_boot_img_hdr : describes vendor boot image header These definitions have been copied over from the AOSP documentation at [1] and [2] Boot arg sizes are taken from [3]: commit: 35fb6262bc3f (ANDROID: Support for vendor boot) This also adds documentation for boot image header v3/v4 structure that was imported from [4], file: include/bootimg/bootimg.h commit: 8d0922bfb932 (Adding GKI signature in boot.img v4) Link:[1] https://source.android.com/docs/core/architecture/bootloader/boot-image-header Link:[2] https://source.android.com/docs/core/architecture/bootloader/partitions/vendor-boot-partitions#vendor-boot-header Link:[3] https://android.googlesource.com/platform/external/u-boot Link:[4] https://android.googlesource.com/platform/system/tools/mkbootimg Signed-off-by: Safae Ouajih <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Mattijs Korpershoek <[email protected]> Tested-by: Mattijs Korpershoek <[email protected]>
2023-04-04android: boot: rename andr_img_hdr -> andr_boot_img_hdr_v0Safae Ouajih
Android introduced boot header version 3 or 4. The header structure change with version 3 and 4 to support the new updates such as: - Introducing Vendor boot image: with a vendor ramdisk - Bootconfig feature (v4) Change andr_img_hdr struct name to maintain support for version v0, v1 and v2 while introducing version 3 and 4. 2019-10-15image: android: Fix possible build errorsSam Protsenko
As android_image.h uses types like u32, we need to include corresponding headers in place. Otherwise the user will be forced to include those in C file, or next build error can occur: include/android_image.h:32:5: error: unknown type name 'u32' u32 kernel_size; /* size in bytes */ Include required headers for data types used. While at it, remove typedef struct, which is prohibited by kernel coding style, and fix the comment. Signed-off-by: Sam Protsenko <[email protected]>
2019-08-07Update include/android_image.h from AOSPAlex Deymo
This takes the latest changes from AOSP from the file include/bootimg/bootimg.h from the repository: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/system/tools/mkbootimg and update the U-Boot version with the latest changes. This file keeps the changes from AOSP to a minimum: * Comments were converted from C++ to C style. * Code inside __cplusplus #ifdef blocks were removed. * C++11 struct extensions replaced with a single struct. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2014-05-08image: add support for Android's boot image formatSebastian Siewior
This patch adds support for the Android boot-image format. The header file is from the Android project and got slightly alterted so the struct + its defines are not generic but have something like a namespace. The header file is from bootloader/legacy/include/boot/bootimg.h. The header parsing has been written from scratch and I looked at bootloader/legacy/usbloader/usbloader.c for some details. The image contains the physical address (load address) of the kernel and ramdisk. This address is considered only for the kernel image. The "second image" defined in the image header is currently not supported. I haven't found anything that is creating this. v3 (Rob Herring): This is based on http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/126797/ with the following changes: - Rebased to current mainline - Moved android image handling to separate functions in common/image-android.c - s/u8/char/ in header to fix string function warnings - Use SPDX identifiers for licenses - Cleaned-up file source information: android_image.h is from file include/boot/bootimg.h in repository: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/bootable/bootloader/legacy The git commit hash is 4205b865141ff2e255fe1d3bd16de18e217ef06a usbloader.c would be from the same commit, but it does not appear to have been used for any actual code. v4: - s/andriod/android/ - Use a separate flag ep_found to track if the entry point has been set rather than using a magic value.
