2023-03-08patman: Move library functions into a library directorySimon Glass
The patman directory has a number of modules which are used by other tools in U-Boot. This makes it hard to package the tools using pypi since the common files must be copied along with the tool that uses them. To address this, move these files into a new u_boot_pylib library. This can be packaged separately and listed as a dependency of each tool. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2022-02-09patman: Convert camel case in tools.pySimon Glass
Convert this file to snake case and update all files which use it. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2021-03-26binman: Incorporate entry documentationSimon Glass
Update this to avoid sphinx warnings and incorporate it into the new documentaiton tree. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2020-07-25binman: Use super() instead of specifying parent typeSimon Glass
It is easier and less error-prone to use super() when the parent type is needed. Update binman to remove the type names. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Bin Meng <[email protected]>
2020-07-24Revert "Merge tag 'dm-pull-20jul20' of git://git.denx.de/u-boot-dm"Tom Rini
This reverts commit 5d3a21df6694ebd66d5c34c9d62a26edc7456fc7, reversing changes made to 56d37f1c564107e27d873181d838571b7d7860e7. Unfortunately this is causing CI failures: https://travis-ci.org/github/trini/u-boot/jobs/711313649 Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2020-04-26patman: Move to absolute importsSimon Glass
At present patman sets the python path on startup so that it can access the libraries it needs. If we convert to use absolute imports this is not necessary. Move patman to use absolute imports. This requires changes in tools which use the patman libraries (which is most of them). Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2020-04-26binman: Move to absolute importsSimon Glass
At present binman sets the python path on startup so that it can access the libraries it needs. If we convert to use absolute imports this is not necessary. Move binman to use absolute imports. This enables removable of the path adjusting in Entry also. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2019-07-23binman: Allow text directly in the nodeSimon Glass
At present text entries use an indirect method to specify the text to use, with a label pointing to the text itself. Allow the text to be directly written into the node. This is more convenient in cases where the text is constant. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2019-07-10binman: Update 'text' entry for Python 3Simon Glass
This code reads a binary value and then uses it as a string to look up another value. Add conversions to make this work as expected on Python 3. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2019-05-08binman: Don't generate an error in 'text' entry constructorSimon Glass
It is not good practice to raise an exception in a constructor. In this case the 'text' entry may not actually be used, if -i is used to filter out the images that get built. Move the exception to where the data is actually used. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Bin Meng <[email protected]>
2018-09-28binman: Generate an error when text is not providedSimon Glass
When the value of a text entry is not provided an execption is generated talking about a None type. This is confusing. Add a more explanatory error and a test for this case. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2018-08-01binman: Expand documentation for entriesSimon Glass
At present only the more complex entries are documented. It is useful to have documentation for all entries in one place. As a first step, add and expand the documentation to cover all entries. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2018-08-01binman: Support an entry that holds textSimon Glass
It is useful to able to write an identifying string to the image within an entry. Add a 'text' entry type to handle this. The actual text is typically passed to binman on the command line. The text is not itself nul-terminated but this can be achieved if required by setting the size of the entry to something larger than the text. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
