2026-06-10lib: sbi: Move hart PMP functions to sbi_hart_pmp.cNicholas Piggin
The sbi_hart_pmp.c looks like a good place for the hart PMP CSR access functions. Signed-off-by: Nicholas Piggin <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Anup Patel <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Anup Patel <[email protected]>
2026-06-10lib: sbi: Add hart_ prefix to PMP functionsNicholas Piggin
PMP functions that deal with hart PMP CSRs are given a sbi_hart_ prefix, to distinguish from RISC-V PMP encoding functions. The is_pmp_entry_mapped() function is changed a little more, to align with other PMP conventions, and made to return a bool to make it more obvious that it returns a bool and not an SBI_ return code. 2025-12-27include: riscv_asm: Optimize csr_xyz() macros to reduce stack usageBo Gan
When using debug builds, aka., DEBUG=1, csr_write_num() function can trigger stack overflow. This is caused by the large amount of macro expansion of csr_write(...), which, under debug builds, will generate massive amount of stack variables (tested with GCC 13.2.0). The issue is masked previously as we didn't have too many csr_write()'s before commit 55296fd27c0c, but now, it does overflow the default 4KB stack. The csr_read(relaxed) macros already use the "register" modifier to optimize stack usage (perhaps unknowingly?), so this patch just follows suit. 2025-04-30lib: sbi: add 64 bit csr macrosRadim Krčmář
Most CSRs are XLEN bits wide, but some are 64 bit, so rv32 needs two accesses, plaguing the code with ifdefs. Add new helpers that split 64 bit operation into two operations on rv32. The helpers don't use "csr + 0x10", but append "H" at the end of the csr name to get a compile-time error when accessing a non 64 bit register. This has the downside that you have to use the name when accessing them. e.g. csr_read64(0x1234) or csr_read64(CSR_SATP) won't compile and the error messages you get for these bugs are not straightforward. 2024-10-28include: sbi: Optimize reads of mhartid and mscratchSamuel Holland
csr_read() is marked as volatile and clobbering memory, which is generally the safe thing to do. However, these two CSRs do not have any side effects, and the values returned do not change between calls. The compiler can generate better code if we allow it to reorder calls to these functions and cache the return value. Introduce csr_read_relaxed() for this use case. 2020-09-16lib: sbi: Allow specifying mode in sbi_hart_pmp_check_addr() APIAnup Patel
We extend sbi_hart_pmp_check_addr() API so that users can specify privilege mode of the address for checking PMP access permissions. To achieve this, we end-up converting "unsigned long *size" parameter to "unsigned long *log2len" for pmp_get() implementation so that we can deal with regions of "1UL << __riscv_xlen" size in a special case in sbi_hart_pmp_check_addr() implementation. On some platforms, misa may not be implemented. On such a platform, reading misa will get 0. At this time, platform is required to implement a non-standard function to detect the CPU's capabilities. Therefore, this modification add interfaces for non-standard function. The MXL field of misa is always at the highest two bits, whether it is a 32-bit 64-bit or a 128-bit machine. 2019-05-21lib: Flush everything when remote TLB flush range is too largeAnup Patel
On latest Linux kernel (i.e. 5.2-rc1), we get large TLB flush request for user space addresses (typically, start=x and end=-1). This is caused by Linux kernel commit a21344dfc6 ("riscv: fix sbi_remote_sfence_vma{,_asid}"). It's not practical to execute large number of sfence instructions for a large TLB flush range because it takes too much time and eventually causes CPU stall in Linux kernel. This patch addresses above issue by upgrading TLB flush range to TLB flush all whenever TLB flush range is greater than 1GB.
