2025-01-29arm64: renesas: Deduplicate board_early_init_f()Marek Vasut
Introduce common weak board_early_init_f() in rcar64-common.c which is the default implementation in case there is no other board specific board_early_init_f(). Remove board_early_init_f() from Salvator-X, ULCB and Draak boards where this function is empty. Reviewed-by: Quentin Schulz <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]>
2025-01-29arm64: renesas: Drop unused code and clean up headers on ULCB boardsMarek Vasut
CONFIG_IS_ENABLED(SYS_I2C_LEGACY) is not set on this board, remove the code and also remove all unnecessary headers that are included in this file. Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]>
2025-01-29ARM: renesas: Simplify board MakefilesMarek Vasut
Introduce board/renesas/common/Makefile and remove the multiple duplicate copies of obj := ../common/*.o from board Makefiles. Let the build system include the common Makefile using the HAVE_VENDOR_COMMON_LIB and build the common objects that are shared by all the boards that way. No functional change intended. Some of the remaining board files which include board specific settings have been updated to use obj-y += to avoid rewriting the board obj-y target and avoid dropping object files from the build. The board/renesas/common/Makefile is now also used when building RZG2L targets which also set CONFIG_RCAR_64 symbol and 32bit R-Car Gen2 targets, however, this common code is specific to 64bit R-Car only. Inhibit the build of this common code for RZG2L using extra ifndef CONFIG_RZG2L and do not include any code for R-Car Gen2 so far. 2025-01-29ARM: renesas: Rename board/renesas/rcar-common to board/renesas/commonMarek Vasut
Rename directory board/renesas/rcar-common to board/renesas/common and move files. This allows the build system to use HAVE_VENDOR_COMMON_LIB which automatically includes board/$(VENDOR)/common/Makefile . Create temporarily empty board/renesas/common/Makefile to be extended with actual content later in this series. This is a preparatory patch for board Makefile simplification. No functional change so far. Reviewed-by: Quentin Schulz <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]>
2024-12-29arm64: renesas: Split R-Car Gen3 and Gen4 common board codeMarek Vasut
Split common board code for R-Car Gen3 and Gen4 into separate files. The R-Car Gen3 board code contains fixups specific to TFA which are no longer required on R-Car Gen4, keep those fixups in its own file so they would not interfere with Gen4. Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]>

2024-04-18ARM: dts: renesas: Replace R8A77950 with R8A77951Marek Vasut
R-Car R8A77950 H3 ES1.* was only available to an internal development group and needed a lot of quirks and workarounds. Public users only have R-Car R8A77950 H3 ES2 and newer. Switch existing systems to use R8A77951 device trees. Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]>
2024-04-18ARM: dts: renesas: Stop using the -u-boot DTs for buildMarek Vasut
The U-Boot build system can automatically paste -u-boot.dtsi at the end of matching .dts during build. Stop emulating this behavior and rename the -u-boot.dts files to -u-boot.dtsi, drop "#include...dts" from those new u-boot.dtsi files, and update board configuration accordingly. The rename, '#include...dts` scrubbing and configuration update has been done using the following script: ``` $ find . -name r[78]\*-u-boot.dts | sort -u | while read line ; do \ git mv ${line%-u-boot.dts}-u-boot.dts ${line%-u-boot.dts}-u-boot.dtsi ; \ done $ sed -i '/^#include.*dts"/ d' `find . -name r[78]\*-u-boot.dtsi` $ sed -i 's@-u-boot@@g' `git grep -li renesas configs` ``` The Salvator-X and ULCB board files have been updated manually. Rename arch-rmobile to arch-renesas and mach-rmobile to mach-renesas because all the chips are made by Renesas, while only a subset of them is from the R-Mobile line. Use the following command to perform the rename, with manual move of the directories using git mv and manual fix up to arch/arm/Makefile: " $ git grep -l '\<\(arch\|mach\)-rmobile\>' | \ xargs -I {} sed -i 's@\<\(arch\|mach\)-rmobile\>@\1-renesas@g' {} $ sed -i 's@rmobile@renesas@' board/*/*/Kconfig " Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Paul Barker <[email protected]>

2021-08-30Convert CONFIG_SYS_I2C_LEGACY to Kconfig and add CONFIG_[ST]PL_SYS_I2C_LEGACYTom Rini
First, we convert CONFIG_SYS_I2C_LEGACY to Kconfig. Next, as you cannot have SYS_I2C_LEGACY and DM_I2C at the same time, introduce CONFIG_SPL_SYS_I2C_LEGACY so that we can enable the legacy option only in SPL. Finally, for some PowerPC cases we also need CONFIG_TPL_SYS_I2C_LEGACY support. Convert all of the existing users to one or more symbols. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2021-07-28i2c: Rename CONFIG_SYS_I2C to CONFIG_SYS_I2C_LEGACYSimon Glass
It is quite confusing that CONFIG_SYS_I2C selects the legacy I2C and CONFIG_DM_I2C selects the current I2C. The deadline to migrate I2C is less than a year away. Also we want to have a CONFIG_I2C for U-Boot proper just like we have CONFIG_SPL_I2C for SPL, so we can simplify the Makefile rules. Rename this symbol so it is clear it is going away. 2021-02-02common: Drop asm/global_data.h from common headerSimon Glass
Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. In a number of cases this requires adding "struct udevice;" to avoid adding another large header or in other cases replacing / adding missing header files that had been pulled in, very indirectly. Finally, we have a few cases where we did not need to include <asm/global_data.h> at all, so remove that include. 2021-01-05dm: Rename DM_GET_DRIVER() to DM_DRIVER_GET()Simon Glass

2020-12-13dm: treewide: Rename auto_alloc_size members to be shorterSimon Glass
This construct is quite long-winded. In earlier days it made some sense since auto-allocation was a strange concept. But with driver model now used pretty universally, we can shorten this to 'auto'. This reduces verbosity and makes it easier to read. Coincidentally it also ensures that every declaration is on one line, thus making dtoc's job easier. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>

2020-05-18command: Remove the cmd_tbl_t typedefSimon Glass
We should not use typedefs in U-Boot. They cannot be used as forward declarations which means that header files must include the full header to access them. 2020-04-28ARM: rmobile: Unify Gen3 Salvator-X(S) and ULCB defconfigsMarek Vasut
The r8a779{5,6,65}_salvator-x and r8a779{5,6,65}_ulcb_defconfig were building the same target, except for the default DT. The default DT is however only a detail, as the actual DT to be used to configure U-Boot is detected automatically based on the CPU ID, hence the default DT is not meaningful. Unify each three defconfigs per board to reduce the duplication. Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]> Cc: Nobuhiro Iwamatsu <[email protected]>
2019-05-21ARM: renesas: Factor out DRAM setup on R-Car Gen3Marek Vasut
Pull DRAM layout configuration code into rcar-common.c instead of having it in multiple copies across board files. This poses no change for Salvator-X/XS, ULCB and Ebisu boards, however it adds a bit of extra code for Draak and Eagle boards, which now gain the capability of being passed in the DRAM layout by the ATF. 2019-05-21ARM: rmobile: Add recovery SPL for R-Car Gen3Marek Vasut
Build an SPL which can be started via SCIF download mode on R-Car Gen3 and allows loading and executing U-Boot uImage with the next stage code. This is also useful for starting e.g. ATF BL2, which inits the hardware and returns to the U-Boot SPL, which can then load e.g. U-Boot proper. The H3, M3-W, M3-N SoCs have plenty of SRAM for storing the U-Boot SPL while the payload, e.g. ATF BL2, executes, so there is no problem here. However, E3 and D3 have much less SRAM, hence the loader uses a trick where it copies itself beyond the area used by BL2 and executes from there. That area is 32kiB large and not enough to hold U-Boot SPL, BSS, stack and malloc area, so the later two are placed at +0x4000 offset from start of SRAM, another area not used by ATF BL2. To make things even more complicated, the SCIF loader cannot load to the upper 32kiB of the SRAM directly, hence the copying approach. 2019-05-04ARM: renesas: Configure DRAM size from ATF DT fragmentMarek Vasut
The ATF can pass additional information via the first four registers, x0...x3. The R-Car Gen3 with mainline ATF, register x1 contains pointer to a device tree with platform information. Parse this device tree and extract DRAM size information from it. This is useful on systems where the DRAM size can vary between configurations. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
