2024-10-24dfu: sf: rely on DT for spi speed and modeNeil Armstrong
Align with cmd_sf, and try to rely on DT for spi speed and mode, and still fallback on spi_flash_probe() if it fails. With the current scheme, spi_flash_probe() will be called with CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_SPEED and CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_MODE with are set to 0 by default on DT platforms using DM_SPI_FLASH. Like cmd_sf, keep the option to specify the speed and mode from the dfu_alt_mode string, but rely on DT properties if not specified. Using CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_SPEED and CONFIG_SF_DEFAULT_MODE makes the SPIFC controller on Amlogic Meson G12B & SM1 hardware fail and is unable to recover until a system reboot. 2024-05-19Revert "Merge patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet""Tom Rini
When bringing in the series 'arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"' I failed to notice that b4 noticed it was based on next and so took that as the base commit and merged that part of next to master. This reverts commit c8ffd1356d42223cbb8c86280a083cc3c93e6426, reversing changes made to 2ee6f3a5f7550de3599faef9704e166e5dcace35. 2022-08-04Audit <flash.h> inclusionTom Rini
A large number of files include <flash.h> as it used to be how various SPI flash related functions were found, or for other reasons entirely. In order to migrate some further CONFIG symbols to Kconfig we need to not include flash.h in cases where we don't have a NOR flash of some sort enabled. Furthermore, in cases where we are in common code and it doesn't make sense to try and further refactor the code itself in to new files we need to guard this inclusion. 2022-02-11DFU: Check the number of arguments and argument string strictlyMasami Hiramatsu
When parsing the dfu_alt_info, check the number of arguments and argument string strictly. If there is any garbage data (which is not able to be parsed correctly) in dfu_alt_info, that means something wrong and user may make a typo or mis- understanding about the syntax. Since the dfu_alt_info is used for updating the firmware, this mistake may lead to brick the hardware. Thus it should be checked strictly for making sure there is no mistake. 2022-02-11DFU: Accept redundant spaces and tabs in dfu_alt_infoMasami Hiramatsu
If dfu_alt_info has repeated spaces or tab (for indentation or readability), the dfu fails to parse it. For example, if dfu_alt_info="mtd nor1=image raw 100000 200000" (double spaces after "raw"), the image entity start address is '0' and the size '0x100000'. This is because the repeated space is not skipped. Use space and tab as a separater and apply skip_spaces() to skip redundant spaces and tabs. Signed-off-by: Masami Hiramatsu <[email protected]>

2019-10-31dfu: sf: add partition support for nor backendPatrick Delaunay
Copy the partition support from NAND backend to SF, support part and partubi option. In case of ubi partition, erase the rest of the partition as it is mandatory for UBI. The added code is under compilation flag CONFIG_DFU_SF_PART activated by default. for example: U-Boot> env set dfu_alt_info "spl part 0 1;\ u-boot part 0 2;u-boot-env part 0 3;UBI partubi 0 4" U-Boot> dfu 0 sf 0:0:10000000:0 Signed-off-by: Patrick Delaunay <[email protected]>

2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2015-11-03dfu: dfu_sf: Pass duplicate devstr to parse_devVignesh R
parse_dev() alters the string pointed by devstr parameter. Due to this subsequent parsing of sf entities will fail, as string pointed by devstr is no longer valid sf dev arguments. 2015-10-19dfu: dfu_sf: Take the start address into accountFabio Estevam
The dfu_alt_info_spl variable allows passing a starting point for the binary to be flashed in the SPI NOR. For example, if we have 'dfu_alt_info_spl=spl raw 0x400', this means that we want to flash the binary starting at address 0x400. In order to do so we need to erase the entire sector and write to the the subsequent SPI NOR sectors taking such start address into account for the address calculations. Tested by succesfully writing SPL binary into 0x400 offset and the u-boot.img at offset 64 kiB of a SPL NOR. 2015-10-19dfu: dfu_sf: Use the erase sector size for erase operationsFabio Estevam
SPI NOR flashes need to erase the entire sector size and we cannot pass any arbitrary length for the erase operation. To illustrate the problem: Copying data from PC to DFU device Download [=========================] 100% 478208 bytes Download done. state(7) = dfuMANIFEST, status(0) = No error condition is present state(10) = dfuERROR, status(14) = Something went wrong, but the device does not know what it was Done! In this case, the binary has 478208 bytes and the M25P32 SPI NOR has an erase sector of 64kB. 478208 = 7 entire sectors of 64kiB + 19456 bytes. Erasing the first seven 64 kB sectors works fine, but when trying to erase the remainding 19456 causes problem and the board hangs. Fix the issue by always erasing with the erase sector size.
