2025-08-01arm: bcm281xx: Remove ethernet driverTom Rini
As no platforms enable the ethernet driver, remove it. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
2024-05-20Restore patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"Tom Rini
As part of bringing the master branch back in to next, we need to allow for all of these changes to exist here. Reported-by: Jonas Karlman <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
2024-05-19Revert "Merge patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet""Tom Rini
When bringing in the series 'arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"' I failed to notice that b4 noticed it was based on next and so took that as the base commit and merged that part of next to master. This reverts commit c8ffd1356d42223cbb8c86280a083cc3c93e6426, reversing changes made to 2ee6f3a5f7550de3599faef9704e166e5dcace35. 2024-05-07net: Remove <common.h> and add needed includesTom Rini
Remove <common.h> from this driver directory and when needed add missing include files directly. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
2023-09-24common: Drop linux/printk.h from common headerSimon Glass
This old patch was marked as deferred. Bring it back to life, to continue towards the removal of common.h Move this out of the common header and include it only where needed. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]>
2021-09-28net: bcm-sf2: ensure mdiodev->name is NULL terminated after MDIO_NAME_LEN ↵Vladimir Oltean
truncation strncpy() simply bails out when copying a source string whose size exceeds the destination string size, potentially leaving the destination string unterminated. One possible way to address is to pass MDIO_NAME_LEN - 1 and a previously zero-initialized destination string, but this is more difficult to maintain. The chosen alternative is to use strlcpy(), which properly limits the copy len in the (srclen >= size) case to "size - 1", and which is also more efficient than the strncpy() byte-by-byte implementation by using memcpy. The destination string returned by strlcpy() is always NULL terminated. Signed-off-by: Vladimir Oltean <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Ramon Fried <[email protected]>
2020-07-17treewide: convert bd_t to struct bd_info by coccinelleMasahiro Yamada
The Linux coding style guide (Documentation/process/coding-style.rst) clearly says: It's a **mistake** to use typedef for structures and pointers. Besides, using typedef for structures is annoying when you try to make headers self-contained. Let's say you have the following function declaration in a header: void foo(bd_t *bd); This is not self-contained since bd_t is not defined. To tell the compiler what 'bd_t' is, you need to include <asm/u-boot.h> #include <asm/u-boot.h> void foo(bd_t *bd); Then, the include direcective pulls in more bloat needlessly. If you use 'struct bd_info' instead, it is enough to put a forward declaration as follows: struct bd_info; void foo(struct bd_info *bd); Right, typedef'ing bd_t is a mistake. I used coccinelle to generate this commit. The semantic patch that makes this change is as follows: <smpl> @@ typedef bd_t; @@ -bd_t +struct bd_info </smpl> Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <[email protected]>

2019-12-20drivers: net: bcm-sf2: pass -1 to phy_connect()Alex Marginean
Passing 0 to PHY connect used to trigger a MDIO scan due to a bug fixed in the meantime. It's unclear if bcm-sf2 wants to connect to PHY @ addr 0 or is scanning the bus, passing -1 here should keep it functional either way. 2018-05-07SPDX: Convert all of our single license tags to Linux Kernel styleTom Rini
When U-Boot started using SPDX tags we were among the early adopters and there weren't a lot of other examples to borrow from. So we picked the area of the file that usually had a full license text and replaced it with an appropriate SPDX-License-Identifier: entry. Since then, the Linux Kernel has adopted SPDX tags and they place it as the very first line in a file (except where shebangs are used, then it's second line) and with slightly different comment styles than us. In part due to community overlap, in part due to better tag visibility and in part for other minor reasons, switch over to that style. This commit changes all instances where we have a single declared license in the tag as both the before and after are identical in tag contents. There's also a few places where I found we did not have a tag and have introduced one. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
2017-10-04treewide: replace with error() with pr_err()Masahiro Yamada
U-Boot widely uses error() as a bit noisier variant of printf(). This macro causes name conflict with the following line in include/linux/compiler-gcc.h: # define __compiletime_error(message) __attribute__((error(message))) This prevents us from using __compiletime_error(), and makes it difficult to fully sync BUILD_BUG macros with Linux. (Notice Linux's BUILD_BUG_ON_MSG is implemented by using compiletime_assert().) Let's convert error() into now treewide-available pr_err(). Done with the help of Coccinelle, excluing tools/ directory. The semantic patch I used is as follows: // <smpl> @@@@ -error +pr_err (...) // </smpl> Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Simon Glass <[email protected]> [trini: Re-run Coccinelle] Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>

2015-05-19net: Update hardware MAC address if it changes in envJoe Hershberger
When the ethaddr changes in the env, the hardware should also be updated so that MAC filtering will work properly without resetting U-Boot. Also remove the manual calls to set the hwaddr that was included in a few drivers as a result of the framework not doing it. 2015-04-18net: cosmetic: Fix var naming net <-> eth driversJoe Hershberger
Update the naming convention used in the network stack functions and variables that Ethernet drivers use to interact with it. This cleans up the temporary hacks that were added to this interface along with the DM support. This patch has a few remaining checkpatch.pl failures that would be out of the scope of this patch to fix (drivers that are in gross violation of checkpatch.pl).
