2025-04-28clk: imx: Pass CCM udevice into clk_register_composite()Marek Vasut
Pass the clock controller udevice into clk_register_composite(), so it can be passed further to any registered composite clocks and used for look up of parent clock referenced in DT "clocks" and "clock-names" properties by phandle and name pair. Use the clock controller udevice in imx8m_clk_mux_set_parent() to perform accurate look up of parent clock referenced in the CCM driver by name. If the clock name that is being looked up matches one of the names listed in the clock controller DT node "clock-names" array property, then the offset of the name is looked up in the "clocks" DT property and the phandle at that offset is resolved to the parent clock udevice. The test to determine whether a particular driver instance registered with clock uclass matches the parent clock is done by comparing the OF nodes of the clock registered with clock uclass and parent clock resolved from the phandle. Example: drivers/clk/imx/clk-imx8mm.c: static const char * const imx8mm_a53_sels[] = {"osc_24m", "arm_pll_out", ... _____________| arch/arm/dts/imx8mm.dtsi: | clk: clock-controller@30380000 { v clock-names = "osc_32k", "osc_24m", ... | v clocks = <&osc_32k>, <&osc_24m>, ... }; _______________________| ... | / { v osc_24m: clock-osc-24m { compatible = "fixed-clock"; ... }; Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]> Reported-by: Francesco Dolcini <[email protected]> Tested-by: Fabio Estevam <[email protected]> Tested-by: Adam Ford <[email protected]> # imx8mp-beacon
2025-03-24clk: clk-composite: Resolve parent clock by nameMarek Vasut
Use clock-names property which is accessible via parent clock OF node to look up the parent clock by name instead of depending on unreliable global clock name to perform look up. Signed-off-by: Marek Vasut <[email protected]>

2024-05-19Revert "Merge patch series "arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet""Tom Rini
When bringing in the series 'arm: dts: am62-beagleplay: Fix Beagleplay Ethernet"' I failed to notice that b4 noticed it was based on next and so took that as the base commit and merged that part of next to master. This reverts commit c8ffd1356d42223cbb8c86280a083cc3c93e6426, reversing changes made to 2ee6f3a5f7550de3599faef9704e166e5dcace35. Remove <common.h> from this driver directory and when needed add missing include files directly. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <[email protected]>
2023-12-15clk: Check that composite clock's div has set_rate()Igor Prusov
It's possible for composite clocks to have a divider that does not implement set_rate() operation. For example, sandbox_clk_composite() registers composite clock with a divider that only has get_rate(). Currently clk_composite_set_rate() only checks thate rate_ops are present, so for sandbox it will cause NULL dereference during clk_set_rate(). This patch adds rate_ops->set_rate check tp clk_composite_set_rate(). 2021-12-15clk: define LOG_CATEGORY for generic and ccf clocksPatrick Delaunay
Define LOG_CATEGORY to allow filtering with log command for generic clock and CCF clocks. This patch also change existing printf, debug and pr_ macro to log_ or dev_ macro. Signed-off-by: Patrick Delaunay <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Sean Anderson <[email protected]>
2021-12-15clk: cosmetic: reorder include filesPatrick Delaunay
Reorder include files in the U-Boot expected order: the common.h header should always be first, followed by other headers in order, then headers with directories, then local files. 2021-04-06clk: Return -ENOSYS when system call is not availableSimon Glass
Update clk_composite_set_parent() to use -ENOSYS, which is the correct error code for U-Boot. Also rearrange the code so that the error condition is clearly indicated and the function runs to the end in the normal case, since this is the common style in U-Boot. 2020-07-01clk: Check that ops of composite clock components exist before callingSean Anderson
clk_composite_ops was shared between all devices in the composite clock driver. If one clock had a feature (such as supporting set_parent) which another clock did not, it could call a null pointer dereference. This patch does three things 1. It adds null-pointer checks to all composite clock functions. 2. It makes clk_composite_ops const and sets its functions at compile-time. 3. It adds some basic sanity checks to num_parents. The combined effect of these changes is that any of mux, rate, or gate can be NULL, and composite clocks will still function normally. Previously, at least mux had to exist, since clk_composite_get_parent was used to determine the parent for clk_register. 2020-07-01clk: Always use the supplied struct clkSean Anderson
CCF clocks should always use the struct clock passed to their methods for extracting the driver-specific clock information struct. Previously, many functions would use the clk->dev->priv if the device was bound. This could cause problems with composite clocks. The individual clocks in a composite clock did not have the ->dev field filled in. This was fine, because the device-specific clock information would be used. However, since there was no ->dev, there was no way to get the parent clock. This caused the recalc_rate method of the CCF divider clock to fail. One option would be to use the clk->priv field to get the composite clock and from there get the appropriate parent device. However, this would tie the implementation to the composite clock. In general, different devices should not rely on the contents of ->priv from another device. The simple solution to this problem is to just always use the supplied struct clock. The composite clock now fills in the ->dev pointer of its child clocks. This allows child clocks to make calls like clk_get_parent() without issue. imx avoided the above problem by using a custom get_rate function with composite clocks. 2020-02-05dm: core: Require users of devres to include the headerSimon Glass
At present devres.h is included in all files that include dm.h but few make use of it. Also this pulls in linux/compat which adds several more headers. Drop the automatic inclusion and require files to include devres themselves. This provides a good indication of which files use devres.
